Residential Parking Permit Areas are in place in some areas of Brisbane to manage the parking demand and protect residential amenity.
These areas a generally quite small and parking time limits are signed are installed on a street-by-street basis. Residents and their visitors who have a parking permit are exempt from parking time limits if the parking sign says "Resident Permit Excepted".
