Traffic and Parking Control Areas have been used in Brisbane since 1961. Signs are located on all boundarys to these areas, and the parking time limit indicated on the boundary sign applies to all on-street parking spaces within the area, unless otherwise indicated by a parking sign.
These areas help manage the parking demand and protect residential amenity in busy areas by setting time limits for parking. Local residents and their visitors are exempt from these restrictions, provided they display a valid resident or visitor parking permit.
If you are travelling to an inner-city location or a major event, it is recommended that you check if any area-wide parking limits apply beforehand. If area-wide limits apply, you may wish to check to see if parking stations or metered parking is available in the area by using the maps provided.
